When the homeowners of this Greenlake kitchen came to BTBI, they had a clear problem: a closed-off peninsula and high soffits were boxing in a home that was built for open, easy living. Working alongside interior designer Andrea of Copper Boom Design, our team reconfigured the entire footprint — removing the peninsula, eliminating the soffits, and opening the space into the light-filled, connected kitchen the homeowners had envisioned from the start.

Custom Craftsmanship, Built In-House

Every cabinet in this kitchen is custom — a clean maple shaker design from Creekside Customs, finished with a clear coat that lets the wood’s natural grain do the talking. We built in a Sub-Zero refrigerator for a seamless, integrated look, added under-cabinet lighting throughout, and designed custom floating shelves with their own hidden lighting to match. Custom Craftsman-style trim frames the windows, tying the new work into a cohesive, considered whole.

The standout feature: a two-inch-thick, solid Jatoba floating bench with a subtle sculpted curve, exactly to the client’s spec. Getting a bench that heavy to “float” — with zero visible support — meant this couldn’t be an off-the-shelf solution. Our team engineered and welded the steel support brackets in-house, hidden entirely within the wall, so the bench appears to hover on its own.

We also custom-built the exhaust hood above the range, and worked closely with the homeowners’ appliance selections — a Miele oven and induction cooktop installed in tight, close proximity — to get every clearance, connection, and finish detail exactly right.

This project is a good example of how we work: we don’t hand off the details. Cabinetry, tile, flooring, and finish carpentry were all self-performed by our team, with trusted specialists — electrical, paint, and countertop fabrication — brought in only where licensing or expertise calls for it.
